Niagara Falls

The Niagara falls were a beauty. Water falling down from an enormous height and spraying mist all over was a sight to behold. We stayed for a day in Niagara and enjoyed both the daytime and the night time views of the Falls.

Ek Rasta Do Raahi: en-route to Niagara Falls.

Jyoti by the Falls.

View of the Falls from the observatory deck.

Aboard the Maid of the mist, which is the ferry which took us right into the Falls and back.

Himanshu by the Trolley car which took us on a tour around the area.

Cave of the Winds: This spot is a man made structure which is very close to the falls.

For people planning to visit the Falls they should plan to reach there by morning and spend the whole day there. Unless you also want to visit downtown there is not much to see around for more than a day.

New York

The weekend trip to New York city was fun. We were in the Manhattan area for our sigtseeing. We also had a taste for the New York Subway train service.

Thats Times Square. During night time this place was glittering all over and full of bustling people from different parts of the world.

No More Lonely US!!

Time changes and sometimes it also changes for good. Jyoti is having a blast in the US and I decided to join the fun and be with her for some time.

Jyoti and me @ Bushnell Park in Hartford, Connecticut.I was amazed at the amount of Greenery and open spaces in this city. This is my first visit to the US and my first impression has been good so far.

Thats a Volkswagon Beetle and me guarding it.

Here is Jyoti at the bus stop waiting to get to a place she likes best... shopping mall at buckland hills.

Simpy is engaged!!

They got enganged on 7th May, 2006. The feeling that I have cannot be descibed. Its a mix of happiness and anxiety and emotionally overwhleming. If I put all of it in words it would sound like ten different cliched dialogues from an ensemble of Bollywood movies. Our best wishes and love to Gaurav, the orthopedist and my sister Simpy, the opthalmologist.

Panchgani

We knew we had to get out and Panchgani was chosen as our getaway. However we could not make it the first time but we managed to make the trip on 29th April, 2006. It was my first road trip with me driving the car and Jyoti by my side.

Himanshu, the driver

Road trip: We took the NH4 from Pune via Katraj and Khambatki ghats and then took the turn at Surul and took the State Highway to Panchgani via Wai. The entire one way stretch was about 110 kms. Except for Katraj Ghat the roads are in very good shape right uptil Panchgani.

Jyoti, the soulmate and guide

We spent the night there at a place called eco-camp (02168-241164 meg_andre@hotmail.com) which is a no-frills 500 bucks per day for a single room with attached bathroom and super view of the valley. They have tents also available in case you are the adventurous types. If you are concerned for privacy and good facilities like a hotel then this is not the place for you. We went around Panchgani which was not much. In the evening we shopped for Strawberries and Bakery items. The coming morning we started our onward trip to Pratapgarh Fort.

Road trip to Pratapgarh: Head towards Mahabaleshwar from Panchgani (23 odd kms) and go further ahead for 20 kms to reach Pratapgarh. From Panchgani you will climb to reach Mahabaleshwar and then descend on the winding ghats to reach Pratapgarh.

Himanshu & Jyoti
Here we are at PratapGarh. You can see the Fort watchtower in the background.

The return trip to Pune was the same route back. All is all it was fun. Looking forward to the next trip.
